About Us

Educating Today’s Students to be Tomorrow’s Leaders

Good Shepherd Catholic School was established in 1982 and is accredited through the Western Catholic Education Association and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

Good Shepherd Catholic School was started by a group of visionary Catholic school educated parishioners who felt strongly that a Catholic school be established as part of the young growing community in Mira Mesa.

Good Shepherd Catholic School’s purpose is to provide a quality Catholic education which nurtures the spiritual, academic, and personal growth of each child. We strive to challenge all learners with an excellent academic foundation to realize their full potential. As a Catholic community, we empower students through the teachings of Jesus Christ to evangelize in love and service.

Our History

What began as a dream in the hearts and minds of many parents, became a reality, when upon the approval of the Bishop of the San Diego Diocese, Good Shepherd Catholic School was established in 1982. Our mission and philosophy is shared by all members of our school community who recognize and respect the dignity and diversity of all people. Students at Good Shepherd Catholic School are valued as unique children of God, who have the right to a quality education that will prepare them to take an active role in the lives of family, Church, and the economic and civic community of the twenty-first century.

The cultural diversity of our school community provides a framework within which our students gain awareness and a sense of pride in their ethnic backgrounds. This is promoted through our school curriculum, assemblies, and general school environment that nurtures our students in safe and healthy surroundings, emphasizes respect for one another, fosters service to others, and promotes the dignity of individuals in a Catholic community. Since its founding, Good Shepherd Catholic School has earned a reputation as the area's finest Catholic school with strong academics, a well-established athletic and extracurricular program, a strong Christian community with students who are leaders in their studies and their communities.
